On their website, Dashing Thru The Snow claims that they have "been locally owned and operated for about 25 years". Most people would assume that the same family has owned and operated the business during that 25 period. Not true. We have lived next to Dashing thru the Snow since 2000. During that time there have been five different owners of the business. Back in the late 1990's, the business was truly a familiy operated business. The family had many children ranging from diapers to teens, and they all pitched in. When you had a steak for dinner there, it was likely cooked by a child who was still in elementary school.
The current owners have owned the business since 2018, not for 25 years. They are operating it like a family business mainly out of necessity. They try to hire employees, but they can't seem to hold on to them. Once the new employee really gets to know the owners and their business practices, the employee quits.
We have spoken to a few former employees and have heard horror stories about the treatment of the employees, lack of expertise of the owners (and unwillingness to learn), and mistreatment of the animals.
Their website also says "Let one of our experienced drivers guide you and your family through our scenic property." They do not have any experienced drivers. They sent their staff to take a ride with us to learn about driving sleds. They posted an ad for hiring mushers for this season, but they have no one on staff qualified to teach a new driver. We are concerned for the safety of the dogs and guests who take the risk of going for a ride with them.
