We are not the Dashing Thru the Snow horse drawn, sleigh ride business. They primarily offer horse drawn sleigh rides. They also offer dog sled rides and cart rides, but they are NOT a licensed kennel. They have been ILLEGALLY offering dog sled rides since 2017 without a license from the state of Colorado to kennel their dogs.

In April of 2019 they were investigated by Grand County Animal Control for the poor condition of their dogs. The dogs were observed to be severely under weight, and their kennel was not up to state standards.

They are still an unlicensed facility and operating illegally.

We are located on the same road as Dashing Thru the Snow, but we are not affiliated with them in any way.

If you are driving up County Road 5 from highway 40, you will see their sign on the right before you get to us. Keep going on 5 until you see two green buildings, an American flag and a dog truck.

If you would like to go dashing through the snow behind a team of huskies at a fully inspected and licensed kennel, then you have come to the right place. We are the only licensed dog sled kennel in the Winter Park area.

The Ride

NOTE: Our ride is a passive activity in which our guides do the driving, and all customers are passengers.

Here is a basic timeline for your dashing through the snow experience.

  1. Arrive at your scheduled ride time. If you show up too early, we may not be ready to receive you.
  2. Check-in with the Guest Wrangler in the smaller green building. If no one is there, please wait for us. DO NOT wander around looking for us.
  3. Sign the liability waiver.
  4. Step on the scale. It is important to know the combined weight of the passengers in the sled as our sleds have weight and height restrictions.
  5. Make sure you have your hat, gloves, goggles, and camera.
  6. Walk back to the dogs through the snow as a group with the Guest Wrangler.
  7. Get introduced to your driver and loaded into your sled.
  8. Watch the driver hook the dogs to your sled.
  9. Enjoy 45 minutes dashing through the snow (about five miles, depending on how fast we dash) on our private trail system.
  10. Take pictures and learn about your sled dogs.
  11. Return to the kennel.
  12. Pet, kiss and take close up pictures with your sled dogs.
  13. Thank your dogs and your driver, and then head back to the check-out area.
  14. Shop for amazing Dog Sled Rides of Winter Park merchandise.
  15. Leave a gratuity for your driver and settle your bill.
  16. Tell all your friends about us!

There are weight and height restrictions for the passengers on the sled ride.

During the ride, all passengers remain in the sled as the experienced musher expertly guides the sled down the trail. Along the way, the guide will point out any wildlife tracks (or actual wildlife such as moose and coyotes), take pictures for the guests and answer any questions about dogsledding or local history, attractions and activities.

The trips last 45 minutes in the sled and you will spend a total of about an hour and a half at our location. We have many trip patterns that we can cover during your time on trail. The driver chooses the best one based on the trail conditions and performance of the dogs. The trails are situated on private property and we cannot allow guests to walk or ski on the trails. We get to see some amazing views along the way including 13 thousand foot peaks, the Continental Divide, Winter Park Ski Resort, and of course lots of snow and dog butts.

Reservations are required for all services. You must have a major credit card to pay a 50% or 100% deposit at the time of booking.

Risks and Rules

If you are coming for a ride with us, it is helpful to read our risks and rules before you show up. We will review these with you before your trip, but if you already know them, your time with us will be safer and more enjoyable. Also below is a waiver. If you have a large group coming, it is helpful to have the liability waiver signed by everyone before you show up as well. It saves a little check-in time.
